A Garden of Showers
Melbourne, Australia
A row of outdoor showers along a sunlit garden wall — the simple pleasure of washing under the open sky, at a hotel in Melbourne.
In the hotel garden, a long white rendered wall carries three exposed showers in a row. The pipework is copper, left open to view in the old way, rising from a curved bridge of twin cross handles to a solid brass rain head. Stone slabs sit under each shower, and a path of flat stones leads through lavender, rosemary and olive trees. A fourth shower stands alone beside the garden house.
The Garden Wall
Three showers, evenly spaced along the wall, each on its own stone slab with planting softening the spaces between. In the evening the heads are lit, and the water falls warm against the cooling wall.

The Details
Nothing is hidden. The copper pipe is clipped openly to the wall, the curve of the bridge is bent by hand, and the brass cross handles and rain head are made to be used every day, in all weathers.

By the Garden House
One more shower, on its own, against the corner of the garden house — white render, glazed doors and a roof of curved terracotta tiles, with climbers finding their way up the wall.
